High inequality also makes it the most unequal country in Latin America and sixth in the world. High unemployment, natural disaster, external shocks and violence are among the key issues driving poverty in Honduras. In the last two decades, its agricultural sector has lost nearly one-third of its revenue as the prices of export crops, such as banana and coffee, have declined. Its geographic location also makes it susceptible to hurricanes, drought and other natural events. Grameen Foundation is helping to strengthen women's economic empowerment initiatives by working with partners to reduce common barriers that prevent from starting and growing their own businesses.
