Grameen Foundation is a global nonprofit dedicated to enabling the poor, especially women, to create a world without poverty and hunger.
We use our expertise and partnerships to connect poor rural women to essential financial, health and agricultural products and services, while building empowering ecosystems that support her breakthrough. This ecosystem includes strong peer networks, promotes gender equity, and provides information, expertise and market access for poor rural communities.
Our work is inspired by the people we serve: resilient women determined to improve their own lives and the lives of the ones they love.
In the fight to overcome poverty and hunger, the most important breakthrough is hers: it is the breakthrough of a woman who is no longer afraid to try something new. Using new tools and knowledge, she begins saving. She invests in her farm. She talks to her husband about planning their family--and he listens. She learns how to protect her children’s health—and her own. She shares her knowledge. She acts on it. She grows more nutritious food. She grows a new business. She changes her life, and the lives of her children and her community.
We help to ensure she has the resources needed to make these breakthroughs. Using digital technology and working with local partner networks, we develop appropriate services and products that enable her to access financial services, agricultural information and markets, and health information and providers, while building an ecosystem that supports the sustainable delivery of these products.
Like her—and like you--we take risks, thrive on constant learning, and aim for sustainability in all that we do.
