Mobile health is a technology with enormous potential, just a fraction of which has been tapped so far. Among our efforts to realize this potential, the MOTECH program in Ghana is one of our proudest innovations. Launched with our core partners, the Ghana Health Service (GHS), the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health, and expanded with support from the Saving Lives at Birth pro-gram, it was the first mobile technology to close the loop between patient information and the care-giving of health workers.
This case study examines the project's five years of work in rural Ghana. You can also download the executive summary.
